Mere Friday Night Drop In

Friday – 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm for years 7 to 9 – 8:30 pm to 10:30pm for years 9 and above – Mere Youth Development Centre
(Year 9 can choose either session but not both)

What this is:
These are relaxed open access sessions which serve as a ‘social’ hub for young people of all backgrounds and abilities to make friends, try new activities and have fun. There’s opportunity to do a range of activities such as: woodwork, cooking, pool, air hockey and in the summer young people can make use of the outdoor recreational facilities close by.

Why we run it:
To provide young people with a safe space to de-stress after a long week, meet up with friends to relax, listen to music, play games or chat to trusted adults about things affecting their lives. Some young people may not like the thought of specific activity-orientated sessions, so this less structured atmosphere may be more appealing. Once relationships have been established, these individuals are more likely to go on and explore other opportunities offered by the charity.

Who it’s for:
Young people in school years 7 and above or equivalent age.

When and where it runs:
Fridays 6:30pm – 8:30pm for those in school years 7-9 and 8:30pm -10:30pm for those in years 9 and above. Sessions are based at Mere Youth Centre and transport is provided from the South West Wiltshire area, however spaces are limited and must be booked in advance.
